Eeeee-litism

Am taking a break from doing regression analyses to copy and paste this irresistible gem, emailed to me and written by an unnamed UPenn alumnus...

sample track: ELITE MAMBO (fresh off the griddle)
to be sung to the tune of "Love in the First Degree"

last night
i was dreaming
i was doing my PSL (EE!!)
when i woke up
i was streaming
teacher calling out my name

oh-oh-oh
last time the uncle and auntie
they all write my name wrongly (my name wrongly)
they didnt know that A-levels
i get 4 As 2Ds

(chorus)
come on baby set me free
cos i'm GEP
from a top 5 JC
come on baby can't you see
i stand accuuu u u uuuused
of having a good degree

duh duh duh duh duhduhduh duh duh duh duh
guilty of having a good degree

someday i believe its
better to have no IQ
abstain from ten year series
go to a neighborhood school

but i am a chao elite
and have been since primary three (since primary three)
can't you see that i'm only
no action talk only

(chorus)
only i go school for free
cos i'm GEP
from a top 5 JC
only cos of mm lee
i have abu-u-used
the system to get degree

----------------------------

And they say that Singapore doesn't have talent.
I beg to differ though... abusing the system to get that degree comes at a HUGE price, one which I am not at liberty to discuss here.

Back (With a Vengeance)

Am terribly, extremely, completely sorry for my absence for the past month. The internet connection in Peru/Bolivia really leaves much to be desired, plus their keyboards are horrible. I can never find the question mark, or the slash, or "@" or all those silly intricacies that we take for granted on American keyboards. Starting school a day late after my trip is also an extremely stressful activity: have only recently gotten my work/readings/schedules organized (or so I think), and hence my return to the blogosphere :)

Hello dear reader! It's been awhile, hasn't it? I've missed you, and I hope you miss me too. We really should have lunch sometime, in true spirit of "lets-have-lunch-because-we-havent-seen-each-other-in-ages".

Yes, Peru and Bolivia were excellent; thanks for asking. Aside from the fact that I blew 2000 USD on the trip, plus my darling camera (named Carmen) broke down and died (i shall save that story for another time), my first foray into South America proved to be marvelously fun and relatively carefree. Easily the most fun I've had ever since coming to here to study.

In a nutshell: sandboarding and buggy riding in the desert, Incan ruins, boat trips to see penguins and sea lions, island trekking, a 4-day jungle trek to MACCHU PICCHU (easily the highlight of the trip), packed cities with markets selling everything, Texas Hold'em at nights, beer with every dinner, yummy cerviche (raw fish), Witches' Market selling llama fetuses, thermal springs, biking along the World's Most Dangerous Road, and long lazy days sunbathing by the pool and sleeping in a hammock.

Loved it, loved it. I shall write more about the trip when I have more time, and when I actually manage to steal pictures from friends. (due to Carmen's untimely death. Sigh) Carmen is my camera, btw, in case you didnt catch that 2 paragraphs ago.

Am still swamped in commitments, social obligations and extracurriculars, so the lengthy, reflective trip update will have to wait a couple of days. A couple of trivial updates:

1. Am thinking of moving out of my cosy off-campus housing into on-campus high rises. After a year of living away from school I've decided that I'd rather sacrifice luxury for a better feel of the community.

2. That (those) girl(s). Sigh.

3. Trying out for that dance group again, with no expectations whatsoever.

4. Have been spending countless hours filming for Pan-Asian's upcoming show. Not surprisingly, they cast me as the gay, flamboyant guy. Its a really hard role.

5. Am currently in a choreographer's block. I need some good YouTube recommendations to spark my creative juices again. And fast. They expect a dance from me in like, 2 days. Help.
