Irrelevant Thoughts

Irrelevant Thought #1:
Why is it that Mother's Day comes with such fanfare, with newspaper articles, restaurant promotions, ribbons and flowers,
yet no one seems to care about Father's Day? I think the government should give us guys more motivation to be daddys if they're serious about raising the birthrate.

Irrelevant Thought #2:
The princess and i have found the perfect cure for the common cold and a fever! -grin- only works for me tho..

Irrelevant Thought #3:
I know that there are a thousand ways which it could go wrong, and only one way it'll go right, but all im asking for is a little faith, and that you'll believe. Because i do.

Irrelevant Thought #4:
I dont wanna go to the army anymore!

I heard it on Power 98 on the way to Zouk last night and i burst out laughing in the middle of a crowded bus. Its priceless! I so wanna find it.

Dancified (Again!)

There's a certain attraction about dance which keeps me coming back. Thursday night's impromtu agreement to go back to SAJC to dance for the juniors' item turned into a splenderific and wonderfully pleasant experience.

Perhaps it was the studio: that good ol dance studio tucked in the ulu-est part of the campus, with its throng of carelessly thrown sneakers and slippers outside and music blaring through the absolutely non-soundproof windows. The act of opening the door is a workout for the senses in itself: Your eyes are treated to the sight of a multitude of lovely ladies (and a few gents) prancing about with perfect poise and grace, hiding the fatigue that comes with an entire day's practice. They move in perfect unison, blocking changing constantly like an ever blooming rose. And of course, in the centre of it all, perched high on the bar in the middle of the mirror, is Zaki our choreographer, his commanding presence exerting control over the dancers, his critical eyes sweeping across the floor, concentrating too hard to notice you at the door.

Your ears are hit with either the booming beats of the latest hip-hop song, or the frantic tempo of a modern contemporary piece, or perhaps the soothing sounds of a ballet item. Above the music wafts Zaki's rythimic counting, "1,2,3,4,5,6-and-7-and-8!" The air-conditioning immediately cools your skin, it has to be strong to soothe the sweat of tired dancers after an energetic item. Walk into the back room (make sure no one's changing before you do so to avoid any unpleasant surprises!) and you are greeted by the chatter of juniors who welcome you as if you were an old friend.

My turn to take the floor and dance. I execute the movements i'd just learnt to Zaki's methodic counting (5,6,7,8..), a little unsure at first, knowing that 2 years of absence would leave me rusty and stiff, but thankfully not hopeless. After a few rounds and having warmed up enough, i'd do the moves instictively, all the while staring amazingly at the mirror as i watch myself moving exactly in time with the rest, or the rest moving in time with me. Lovely. A turn here, a spin there, the freedom to travel across the studio floor as well as the rush that comes with that flight of fancy breathes life into me. For those few magical moments, i am no longer 2LT Lionel Yeo, sitting in the office and typing applications or giving stiff instructions to men, i am alive. And very happy.

Yours truly will be doing only one item for the upcoming concert at Kallang Theatre (22nd and 23rd july, if you're interested!) since army commitments dont allow me to attend many rehearsals. Unless glen wants me in his item too of course. We are doing the song Sway, a jazzy item with pretty tough partner work for a rusty old fogey like me. But it'll look fantastic if we can pull it off. Okay, so maybe its pretty dumb to participate in a concert and perform only 2 sets of eights, but that isnt the point.

Amidst the monotony of army life, you tend to appreciate the little things, like the friends, the juniors, the choreography, the freedom, the cameraderiae, the fame, the grace and the life that only dance can bring. Its that little rush in the midst of this boring world that keeps the soul alive.

Money Blues

I so frickin' swear i shall be a miser starting tomorrow.

Drawing out $350 today, (150 for last month's phone bill, thanks to SOMEONE, and 200 for the totally un-worth it sword case from milestone) gave me an immense sense of guilt when i was looking at the amount i had left.

I spent a frickin' $1400 this month, and its still 4 days to payday! Oh what the heck am i gonna do? So much for saving and scrimping during army so i can get my car when i ORD. Sheesh. I suppose this money shortage stems from having waaaay too much time on my hands this month. Thanks to unarmed combat's extremely relaxed timetable, daily bookouts, lunches at the (delicious) chicken rice canteen, dinners with Her at tampines mall, weekend clubbing binges with the guys at Phuture, (phuture phuture phuture.. always phuture. You cant help but love that club) the aquisition of my new 7270, and my girlfriend's exceptional skills at convincing me to spend close to 100 bucks on new jeans and a tee have all taken a toll on my wallet.

Now i see why people are so uptight about the frickin fare hike. Im topping up my card like twice a week. I wanna go back to the days of bus passes. -grumbles-

Next month should be slightly better, with me starting my duties as DY S2, i suppose i'll be slightly busier in the day. Thank goodness, i swear, as unbelievable as it sounds, having too much free time is not a good thing. I've been reduced to playing on David's keyboard half-naked in the bunk (yes, we have a keyboard in the bunk, i told you we had way to much time!) when im in camp, and renting vampire vcds to watch when im at home! Please please give me something to do. (but not too much, thank you.. fickle, arent i?)

But what the heck la, im happy.
(because you love me -grin-)

Sweet Sweet "Revenge"

I finally have something to say in answer to the whole star wars kissing incident. (see below)

My perfect gf was (gasp) coming up with words to play her Dunno-what-Twister-Word game on yahoo (gasp) while i was kissing her!

But i dont care, im still a good kisser, ignoring the fact she can still come up with 2 words while i was doing the deed.

So its not such a crime to watch star wars while someone is kissing you after all. Boyfriends of the world, enjoy!

Rumours

I wish everyone would just leave us alone and let us live in peace.
(No, that's not counting YOU, all you wonderful friends of mine you! The countless "are you ok?" tags and sms-es i receive is astounding, really makes a guy feel really loved. -hugs-)

But there are those that post anonymously on people's tagboards, posting rubbish that is totally untrue about the two of us, as well as past relationships. Simply disgusting. It makes me sick, that at the age of 20, some losers can go back to those acne-faced sec 1 days of spreading vicious rumours about how so-and-so broke so-and-so's heart. Kiss my ass la, really.

My relationship with Her is special. So every couple has their problems, no big deal. The both of us have sorted things out, we're cruising along very nicely now at an easy pace, with no pressures and expectations, minimal drama and with the complete maturity of sensible adults. (this is for you, dear concerned friends.. im fine!)

How many of you, rumour-spreaders, slander-typers, can safely say the same for yourselves? "Oo.. i think lionel's such a flirt, he's buaya-ed half the girls in singapore, kisses 20 girls a day and 100 of the women he's impregnated gave birth to daughters who grow up to be construction workers."
Puh-leeze.

And for goodness sake, to someone else, dont go posting stuff on your blog that is totally untrue, biased, paints you as the oh-so-poor victim and someone else as the villian. You know in your heart that it didnt happen that way.

To all you childish anonymous taggers, if you have no justification, no basis, dont even know me (even though you CLAIM that you do, you obviously dont), and dont even dare to identify yourself, dont try to break up a perfectly happy relationship between two mature, loving adults. Because we're above all this, and nothing you say is going to change that.

And Me, Lionel Yeo, said that, because i've got the balls to put my name to whatever i write.
