Well i guess i've been neglecting my blog. Haha!Couldnt muster enough strength last weekend to write anything, and anyway, weekends are too precious to stay at home anyway, unless you're catching up on sleep time of course.. -yawn-
Yup! Its li'll ol me, already three weeks into BMT at good ol Hendon Camp: Home of the SAF Commandos. Have more or less settled into life there, the rigidness, harshness, regimentation, countless rules and procedures have become habitual to most of us here at platoon eight. Its not as bad as what everyone says la really.. Life is tough and unfair on several occasions, but at the end of the day, when we gather for nightsnack and a talk cock session with our platoon commanders, everything seems to be okay in the end. Plus the cameraderie (is that how you spell it? i seriously think army makes you stupid. i'm getting dumber by the day and all my abilities in english seem to have faded away) shared amongst platoon mates is amazing. Never thought i'd be able to fit into a group of mostly chinese speaking people.. heh. Hardship really does pull a group together, i suppose.
Oh let me tell you what happened today.. quite touching. We usually have area cleaning and inspection on our book out days, and today was no different. Yours truly, wanting to chiong sua and ensure everything was in tip top condition, proceeded to sweep the floor, behind the cupboards, under the beds, everywhere la. And in the rush, promptly forgot that my pillow was supposed to be BETWEEN my folded mattress, not on TOP of it. Come inspection, of course i had to knock it down 20 in front of everyone. To top it off, me, along with 3 others who either placed their pillows in the wrong position or forgot to remove their blankets, had to go see our sergeant, who told us that we were to be confined for a couple of hours. Dang. Bad mood already, but what to do, take it like a man la. Our sergeant doesnt give punishments to so few people, so he turned to the i/c and told him that he had to be confined too for not passing down the message correctly. Then, amazingly, our whole platoon, even the ones who did nothing wrong, volunteered to stay back with him as well. Even people whom i thought were selfish initially agreed too. So cool right? And in the end, CSM came and told all of us to book out. Sure, we were the last platoon to leave camp, but seeing that reaction was worth it.
Oh man! Teenage mutant ninja turtles is on! (told you i was getting dumber) I'll write more later. Weekends are just too precious!
