The Days Before

Excuse me for talking about NS once again, (and again and again and again..) but its the only thing on my mind for the past few days now. 3 more days. 3 more days and, in the words of Eugene, i'll exchange my pink i/c and "become the property of SAF". Am friggin queasy about it. In a way its something to look forward to: 2 months of bumming around sucks when you think about it. Waking up and having nothing to do, once the most sought-after feeling during A Level days, now feels like crap. It'll be good to feel like im doing something useful for a change, and earning money at the same time! Plus, with the free meals, the exercise, the adventure, and they take care of your i/c for you absolutely free! Lovely.

It sucks not knowing what to expect. BMT tales heard from friends throughout the CNY hols sound fantastic: i really wish i was a Tekong enlistee! Sheesh they really have it good.. but nope, in 3 days i shall have to adjust to the Hendon life, with their sweat-scented bunks, old buildings, and Singapore Food Industries food (whoohoo!), and that's certainly gonna be a little different from Tekong.. Just hope i can handle it.

And its funny how you appreciate the little luxuries life gives you just before NS. For 2 days now, i've begun to take notice of this little trinklet known as FREEDOM. And heck, its really precious. Check out these little freedoms which we love and take for granted, which i've only just begun to appreciate:

-Sleeping and waking up whenever you want.
-Eating whenever and whatever you want.
-Talking on the phone for as long as you want.
-Sms-ing rubbish to your friends.
-Spending time with your girlfriend
-Being in areas which actually have FEMALES. (no kidding!)
-Blogging
-Chilling out with great old friends and chatting the night away (hello Debbie!)
-Being able to style your HAIR in whatever way you want (ohhhh my lovely hair..)
-Being able to walk leisurely (and not march/run) from place to place.
-Having a choice whether to exercise or not in the morning (i didnt exercise today at all! Unless you count accompanying your girlfriend in one of her strenuous shopping trips)
-Clubbing (seriously i think its perverse and sleazy nature is overrated. Visited Cheeky Monkey on Saturday and i only saw one instance of hanky-panky on the floor. Which again proves my point that good clean clubbing IS possible)
-Watching a movie
-Eating quality food from Nooch and Sakae Sushi (and not just chicken curry/tomato fish and tomato chicken/fish curry.. siiiigh)
-Playing cards
-Listening to music and keeping in touch in the news. Seriously, when you're in camp, would you give a damn how optimistic George Bush is for the US economy?
-Reading.
-Air-conditioning (i shall turn the air conditioning on every night from now on.. -sniffs the air- ahhhhh just savour that cold air..)
-Being able to dump your toothbrush and toothpaste anywhere you want after your done brushing. Didja know that you have to place the SAF toothbrush and toothpaste two-fingers' spacing apart? Gosh.
-Late night pratas.

Aragh i could go on and on. Wonder what life will be like without them.

Heck, I'll never know till i plunge into the snakepit, right? And i wont just survive, i'll do my best to excel in it too! I'm ready for ya.. bring it on!
